Availability in China
I'm going to DEF CON in China, where my students
and I will
teach this workshop:
Practical Malware
Analysis.
A friend said we might face awful punishment
from the US Gov't for violating export
reglations for taking a laptop containing
hacking tools there, so he planned to use a
laptop obtained in China and download everything
there.
I wondered about that, so I decided to see if
the sites I use are available in China.
Testing Availability
I used
WebSitePulse to check, with these
results.
Samsclass: Available
My website
is available in Beijing, as shown below.
Kali Linux: Available
Kali Linux
is available in Beijing, as shown below.
Google: Not Available
I'd heard that Google was blocked, so
I decided to try it, just to verify
that the test is working. Sure enough,
Google
is not available in Beijing, as shown below.
Conclusion
Most everything I use is from Kali or from
my own site, so I think I'll be OK. If the
US Gov't nabs me and holds me forever at
Guantanamo Bay, I hope you people continue
to do your homework anyway while I'm gone.
