Conlan Hall Closing for Another Protest

Dear City College Community,

Protestors have planned an additional demonstration for this Thursday at 2pm. In light of last week’s events I have decided to close the Administration Building, Conlan Hall, at 2pm this Thursday, March 20th. All building staff will complete their day at 1pm.

After last week's events where physical altercations occurred, I received comments from a number of Conlan Hall staff expressing concern for the safety of their work environment. This closure is designed to ensure the safety of all staff and students. Normal building hours and operations will resume Friday, March 21st.

Students previously scheduled to pick up their student financial aid disbursements may do so at Smith Hall, Room 118.

As I mentioned previously, I am saddened that the demonstrations last week became violent. Not only did this affect students adversely, but it also affected many of the dedicated staff working in Conlan Hall.

I would like to reiterate my call from last week that we remember that we are colleagues, all dedicated to the educational mission of this institution, and that each and every member of this community is deserving of respect and physical safety.

Regards,

Dr. Art Tyler
