Proj X1: Coinbase (10 pts.)

What You Need

WARNING

Don't do this on the lab machines in S214. Use a machine elsewhere, or your own laptop.

Purpose

To purchase Bitcoins on Coinbase, the easiest way to exchange dollars to cryptocurrency.

Creating an Account

In a Web browser, go to

https://www.coinbase.com

In the center of the window, enter your email address and click the "Get Started" button, as shown below.

On the next page, fill in the form and click the "CREATE ACCOUNT" button.

Check your email and click the link to verify it.

On the next page, accept the default selection of INDIVIDUAL, as shown below, and click Next.

Follow the instructions on your screen to connect to your phone, and add a credit card to your account.

Buying Bitcoin

On the Coinbase page, at the top left, click the Buy/Sell icon.

Enter a small amount, such as $5.00, in the USD field, as shown below.

Click the "Buy Bitcoin Instantly" button.

Click the "Confirm Buy" button.

Viewing your Accounts

At the top of the Coinbase page, click Accounts.

You see your "BTC Wallet" which contains some Bitcoins, as shown below.

Saving a Screen Image

Make sure you can see Your Name in the top right and a non-zero balance of BTC (or some other cryptocurrency) in the middle of the page, as shown above.

Capture a full-screen image.

YOU MUST SUBMIT A FULL-SCREEN IMAGE FOR FULL CREDIT!

Save the image with the filename "YOUR NAME Proj X1", replacing "YOUR NAME" with your real name.

Turning in your Project

Email the images to cnit.141@gmail.com with the subject line: Proj X1 from YOUR NAME.
