CCSF Victory at WRCCDC Quals - Feb 16, 2019

On Sat., Feb 16, 2019, CCSF competed in the Western Regional Collegiate Cyberdefense Competition and suceeded, advancing to the Regional Championship, which will be held on March 1 and 2 at Coastline Community College in Fountain Valley, CA.

In this contest, the team runs a cloud-based data center, with a firewall and several servers. The team has to configure and maintain the servers while under attack from a "red team" of professional penetration testers. To succeed, they must back up and restore systems, remove vulnerabilities, detect attacks, respond to them, and submit formal reports to management documenting their work. This contest simulates work in real Network Operating Centers and Security Operating Centers at modern companies.

We were the only community college among the finalists, as shown in these rankings.
