Simple Twitter Spam Filter
This very simple Greasemonkey script removes all tweets containing
#squarespace or #Squarespace from twitter pages.
Requirements
- You must view Twitter.com through Firefox
- You need the GreaseMonkey Firefox extension
- Install the script by clicking here.
At the bottom of the page you will see a banner showing how many tweets
were removed, like this:
Limitations
It's not terribly practical at the moment, because there are
only those two spam strings hard-coded in the script. If Twitter
spam continues to annoy me, I will probably be motivated to add
these features:
- An array of spam words, or, even better, a link to a text file
- If spam REALLY annoys me, a proxy server instead of GreaseMonkey so that
3rd party clients like DestroyTwitter can be filtered. Hopefully the clients
themselves will add filtering soon so I don't have to.
