Project 6x: Bandit Wargame (up to 27 pts.)

What You Need

Purpose

The Bandit games teach you a lot about Linux system administration, as you have to find the password on each level from the Linux command line.

Getting Started

In a Web browser, go to

http://overthewire.org/wargames/bandit/

Read the game description, as shown below.

If you are using a Mac or Linux, an SSH client is already included and you can run it at the command line. If you are using Windows, you need an SSH client, such as PuTTY:

Playing the Game

You will be connecting to a remote server and finding passwords on it. Each password moves you to the next level.

When you get as far as you can, capture a whole-desktop image like that shown below, showing a successful login to a level.

You get 1 point per level. The image below is worth 5 points.

Saving the Screen Image

Make sure the left pane shows a username like bandit5 and the ASCII Art Banner, proving that you were able to log in.

CAPTURE A FULL-DESKTOP IMAGE.

Save a screen capture with a filename of "Proj 6x".

Turning In Your Project

Email the image to cnit.120@gmail.com with a subject of "Project 6x from YOUR NAME".
